I would formally like to volunteer for Palin in the GOP pirmaries in 2012. Anything I can do to ensure she wins the nomination would be my pleasure. Who do I call and where do I sign up?

heh, though I am no Palin fan, I would just like to remind you that the left said the exact same thing about Bush in 2000....!

Stillow,
As much as I absolutely despise George W. Bush and think that he sits on his brains. He was 1000 times more qualified to be President than Miss Alaska. Bush never told us that he could see Russia from his house, did not tell us that he got saved, did not make a spectacle of his children (quite the opposite if I recall), etc. Like I said... Where do I sign up?

Palin never said she could see russia from her house, that was tina fay. Palin said you can see land in russia from alaska when referencing the proximity of alaska to russia...which is true.
And it was the media an liberal blogs like dialy kos who made a spectical of Palin's children, example that Trig was really Bristols child, etc. If you are referring to bringing her kids up on stage with her, its quite normal for candidates to do that, Obama did it with his kids also.
And Bush spoke of God quite a bit, he said Jesus Christ was his favorite philosapher.......

Stillow,
Here is what I can tell you. If the GOP is actually dumb enough to nominate her you would be talking an LBJ type landslide for Obama. I want to assist them in their folly.

Well like I said, I am not a palin supporter, but just wanted to remind you that the same exact thing was aid about Bush in 2000. Also do not forget the 80's when the left called Reagan stupid, dumb and basically a know nothing bafoon.
The left has a habit of labeling there opponents stupid and dumb and it tends to backfire.LBJ got a huge sympathy vote after JFK's assasination
I doubt she can win the nomination, but I would urge you as a lefty not to fall into the trap you guys seem to do so often. She would get mccains 46 percent...and if Obama continues to lose steam, anything can happen.....espeically if obama keeps bleeding indy's like he is....NJ and VA saw the left get totally murdered on the indy's.

it woudl be intresting to see if she can get the 25 percent of conservatives who said they did not vote in 2008 to actually go out and vote for her in 2012. If she got mccains numbers and got those 25 percent to come out for her and not stay home, that would tip the battelgrounds......people like me who did not vote for mccain she would need to get...right now I cannot vote for her, but i am also not opposed to it....would have to see how she is closer to the election.

Stillow,
On this one you are out in left field (or in your case right field- LOL!). Sarah Palin is to the GOP what George McGovern was the to the dems. By the way you are revising history... LBJ won because Goldwater was considered a nut at the time, in addition as far as your remarks about Reagan if Obama were to find himself with 52 hostages being held in another country to which he sat on his chicken shit ass and did nothing about it (Jimmy Carter), had double digit inflation, on top of 19% interest rates then yes you could make the arguement for any GOP candidate under those circumstances.

I was referring to Reagan in 1984 where he landslided Mondale by 20 points. Go back and read some of the liberal print media articles, it was the same thing, he was stupid, dumb and a bafoon. Same thing with Bush in 2000 remember? The country is not going to vote for some radical relgiious conservative over a vp from a moderatley popular sitting president....Bush can't win, he's to slow, to dumb, blah blah.
Conservative or liberal, you can win in this country depending on the eocnomy and your ability to communicate. Palin did give one o the best convention speeches I have ever seen. From that point on though, the left unleashed a bombardment of personal and professional attacks of the like that has neve r been seen before.
Obama topped out his support, he got massive turnout, its doubtful he could increase that # by very much....but like I said, polls indicate 25 percent of conservatives stayed home in 2008 cus theyhad no one to vote for....that would be the wild card. I actually did go ahead and vote, but not for obama or mccain.
And Obama may be sitting on double digit unemployment and hyperinflation by his next election. You've seen his approval numbers in key battlegrounds, almot all of them are blow his election #'s in those states.
Palin definately has her work cut out for her...she has to undo the perception the media has given her....most people actually think she said i can see russia from my house, when it was a comedy skit by tina fay.....uphill battle no doubt........can she get my vote and the votes of other fiscal conservatives who stayed home in 2008? I do not know.

Oh and thanks for putting me in right field and not left field.....if I were way out in left field I would just be scared.

Palin did not say she could see Russia from her house.
She did answer this question:
"CHARLES GIBSON (ABC NEWS)
(Off-camera) What insight into Russian actions particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of this state give you?
GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN (REPUBLICAN VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE)
They’re our next door neighbors. And you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska."
Meaning that you can see the Russian island Big Diomede from the U.S. island Little Diomede when it's not foggy, which it usually is. There are also a few spots on mountains in Alaska that you can see across to mainland Russia.
But answering the question that way is so stupid. It'd be like asking the TX governor "What insight does the proximity with Mexico give you into their drug war crisis?"
"Well, you can clearly see Mexican soldiers on the other side of the Rio Grande standing guard."
Ridiculous.
"They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska." She meant that you can see

oops ignore that last sentence.

Everything depends on how unpopular Obama is. If he's unpopular enough anyone, and I mean anyone (including Palin) could beat him.
It seems to me that there's very little chance of Palin winning the nomination and then being crushed.
If the country is in good shape, the Republican electorate comes to its senses and nominates someone sane like Romney, who, like Bob Dole in 1996, runs a gallant but probably unsuccessful campaign. In good times someone like Palin will run about as well as Pat Buchanan.
If the country is in really bad shape, Obama is toast. And on the Republican side we'll be a lot more likely to get someone a little wacky. How wacky? Well, we'll be lucky if we don't get far worse than Palin.
If the country is in in-between shape, who knows?

Or Palin was thinking she could impress Gibson with a useless piece of trivia to deflect her lack of knowledge about foriegn policy. The unedited transcript shows that after the visibility statement she vapidly went on about pressuring Russia to avoid reapeating another Cold War. This shows a dire lack of knowledge of the history of the Cold War and the current geopolical situation with Russia.

Because the Soviet Union alone was responsible for the Cold War...and if we only pressure them!...it won't happen again!
God, I want this woman to run for president in 2012.

aaron....many many many many many many politicans the past 100 years give horrible interviews but go on to be successful politicans. Palin's job approval in Alaska was very high. Her speechdelivery is masterful, but she has problems with interviews.
Its common for pliticans to overcome blunders. remember Clinton's I did not inhale? That made him a laughing stalk, but he went onto win.
And Michael Lewyn is right. Anyone can win if the sitting president is unpopular. If we are stacked with double digit unemployment in 2012 then palin can and probably would beat Obama. Do not underestimate the power of the vote for th other person voters.
Had the economy been bad in 2004 Bush would have lost to Kerry. In 2008 if our economy was rockin then Mccain probably would have won.
We probably won't see antoher reagan like landslide for a long time, but the "other person" can always win if hte incumbant president has lost public support.

If Palin runs for president in 2012, would you definitely vote for her, would you consider voting for her, or would you definitely not vote for her?
53% Definitely would not
Ouch! And to refer to the above discussion, Bush certainly never evoked such emotions back in 2000.
