Very interesting results. Seems that the libs dont care whom they elect as long as they can win while the reps put more stock in substance over ability to campaign. Very interesting.

Not huge samples of each, but it is interesting that Democrats are looking to "just win, baby" while Republicans are tending toward ideological homogeneity.
Posted on November 18, 2009 12:10 PM
That's right...it appears Dems just care about winning...while repubs actually care about who they elect to represent them.
Posted on November 18, 2009 12:19 PM
Democrats are diverse, I wouldn't expect them to be unified zealots like Republicans. So we pick the winners and Republicans pick the losers that can never get elected or participate in bi-parisanship. Surprise there?

Impressive. Your witty retort is second only to my own.
Posted on November 18, 2009 1:47 PM
Don't let the questions fool you.
Of course Democrats want to win. We are more interested in "beating the other party" simply because that means defeating the ideology that gave us 8 disasterous years of Bush/Cheney.
Like Xenobion said, we don't walk in lock-step with one particular ideology...and what has been the result of that strategy? We have more people voting for us, which means our folks are in office and yours are not.
So yeah, we do care about winning. Maybe if the GOP moderated their message a bit, instead of attempting to connect the Obama administration with the systematic extermination of 6 million Jews, you would win some elections too.
Posted on November 18, 2009 4:24 PM
Sure....
First off, people vote people out of office, not for someone in office. You could have put up a person with zero experience, very questionable associates that no one knows anything about and probably shouldn't be elected to congress let alone president and he could have been elected. Oh wait....
Second, go to www.howobamawaselected.com and you will see the kind of voters the dems attract with their candidates. People who shouldnt be allowed to drive let alone the responsibility of voting.
Lastly, who has attributed the connect Obama with the Nazis? I believe the crazy far left are the ones who held up swastikas at the republican convention in 04 and 08.
The libs will lose power in 2012 at the latest. Probably not the senate but definitely the house. Its the Dems who need to moderate their message and quit electing ideologues who are on the fringe left.
Dude, get real. You don't know much.
Posted on November 18, 2009 5:06 PM
Moderate our message? Apparently you think certain people shouldn't be able to vote, you're as crazy as they come. What right do you want to take away next with people who don't agree with you?
Posted on November 18, 2009 5:22 PM
Show me where you have a "right" to vote and if you find it, you can call me crazy.
Secondly, i am not saying anything such that. Reread my post again. All i'm saying is that since the Dem is only concerned about winning, they put up questionable candidates that fog the minds of many of our lesser intelligent voters to win.
Instead, you know where a republican stands on the issues. Whether they win or not, they are a true republican if they stand up for republican ideals. Of course their are variations of republicans like a Crist and Rubio but both are true reps in my book. Its when you get a Scozzafava that its blurry.
Posted on November 18, 2009 5:39 PM
I didn't say voting was a right or at least did not infer it was a constitutional right. Voting is certainly a privilage, but if you suggest taking away voting privilages from "less intelligent" voters you're a facist in the most literal definition of the word.
And really you're going to bark up the less intelligence tree? Last I checked the average democrat is more educated than the average republican education wise. There are several Republican kooks in the party ready to cede from the nation or drive a tractor to the White House anyways. Stones in glass houses for sure on that one!
Republicans run propaganda campaigns based on fear mongering. I don't know what fogs the minds of voters more than over inflating information as a potential threat as we've seen in the past 8 years.
Posted on November 18, 2009 5:57 PM
Dude, you wrote and i quote "What right do you want to take away next?". And again, now you may be slow so let write this twice for you, i did not imply that i would take away anyones right to vote. I did not imply that i would take away anyones right to vote. (twice should be enough). So call me a fascist if you want but it makes no sense (even if i did say they shouldnt be allowed to vote it doesnt make sense.) Just more liberal stupidity that is common in the breed. LOL. Shall i call you a commie now?
And now, not according to the latest pew research poll showing that Republicans are more informed on the issues and answered more questions about our country correctly. What you cite is the results of exit polling that shows people who voted for Obama not registered with the party per se) were slightly more educated. But registered republicans are smarter, at least according to Pew, than registered Dems.
Lastly, Who is running the fear mongering campaign? You have Obama libs like Gore saying that the world will end because of global warming. Obama and congress fear mongering over health care. And i believe its a dem who is running the website www.namesofthedead.com.
Yes, the last 8 years sucked. But the next 4 are looking a lot worse.

Republicans do tend tend to be less diverse in their political ideology than Dems. They also only nominate candidates who fit the base ideology, so for Republicans, ideology is more likely to match a candidate they can accept. If Republicans choose Ms. Palin due to "issues", and she loses to Obama, then Republicans can say they stuck with ideology. Of course, Dems will be in the White House four more years.
That is a real problem for Republicans. They will figure out that a base Republican who does not attract significant independent numbers, can not win. Those independents however in large numbers do not support the base GOP platform.
So if you want to win the election, you first find an electable candidate (it is arguable whether Palin or Romney or Huckabee) is electable) and then you look at issues.
If you do not want to win the election, you can do the reverse and lose.
Right now, I do not think there is anyone prominent in the GOP mix who can defeat Obama in 2012. The Dems have done this in the past, cooked their own goose before the general election. The GOP may well do this in 2012.

Many Obama voters are total morons. Its amazing they are able to get dressed by themselves in the morning. I wonder how long some of those Obama voters will be waiting bytheir mailboxes for that check which will never come.................silly donkeys.

This is where you here the buzzer for a wrong answer. Indy's are both conservative and liberal...a mixture of beleifs, hence the term Indy! Indy's can be nudged in one direction or naother depending on the ability for a candidate to articulate...and also how they view the party's success or failure that is currently in power.
As we see now, Obama is struggling to keep Indy's, Both a conservative or liberal can be elected president.

"Shouldn't be allowed [sic] the responsibility of voting"
That's pretty blatant.
"But registered republicans are smarter, at least according to Pew, than registered Dems. "
Is Pew giving out IQ tests now?
"You have Obama libs like Gore saying that the world will end because of global warming."
We can sail around the Artic Circle year round now, all within the past 10 years. I don't think that's fear mongering, that's a reality check. Bush had a terror alert level that held everyone on the seat whenever it ticked up to Orange.
"Obama and congress fear mongering over health care."
Uh that was Sarah Palin and death panels, rationing, wait lists, ect. ect. All Republicans fear mongering there.

X, hehehe....we are also gaining ice in other regions...its a natural cycle of the Earth to go thru warming and cooling. Its happened for 4.5 billion years....and despite the Gorons out there, it will continue that way for antoher 4.5 billion years. Plus, according to nasa research al lthe toher planets expereinced a very slight warming since 1990, but just like Earth, have level'd off....unless they drive Nissan Armada's on Saturn, then the warming and cooling is probably the reuslt of solar activity and not your light bulb.

Hmmm, in a g'ment system, how many women would not get diagnosed with breat cancer early on in there 40's now....how soon until they say 50 is to young and move it to 60? G'ment rationing by extension invokes death panels....as g'ment boards would be setup to help oepole deal with the refusal of treatment....remember obam's advice, just take a pain pill!
What you are in jail for? I killed 3 people.
What are you in for? I raped 8 women
What are you in for? Child molestation
What about you? Armed robbery and mansalughter
...and you?? I didn't buy helath insurance!

"we are also gaining ice in other regions...its a natural cycle of the Earth to go thru warming and cooling."
Well first that proves Global Climate Change which is a different debate about Global Warming. Both are bad and harmful to the economy for separate reasons.
I don't believe in really getting into the debate if Global Climate Change is "manmade" or not. We would naturally do something if it was the Earth naturally making the planet cooler or warmer. If another Ice Age was going to happen we'd stop it and produce as much CO2 was possible if that were the circumstance. But now the opposite is true. Even if the Earth is going through some "phase" (which I honestly believe to not be true), pragmatically, we do something about it. Unless we just want to lose an inordinate amount of natural resources, screw up our food production, flood rivers on a regular basis, ect.

It would be tax evasion as the real reason in how the bills are turning out. You already go to jail for that.

I find it funny that some comments have stated that "liberals" don't care who they nominate as long as they win. This is false.
"Liberals" want liberal candidates. The thing is that the Democratic party isn't made up solely of liberals. They range from liberals to moderates to a fair number of conservatives. Most "liberals" think the Democrats are generally too conservative (or gutless), but they also know that the Dems are by far the lesser of two evils.
Republicans are more homogeneous in their ideological viewpoints, and its become clear that those who still identify as Republicans are don't care for anyone that doesn't toe the party line.
As a separate issue, this poll's methodology is pretty weak. 281 respondents?

Well X, to tinker with mother nature is both irresponsible and dangerous. Relative to Earth's long life, in the past million years or so there have been several mild warming and cooling cycles. Its normal. To try and alter a natural cycle of the Earth could do more harm than good, espeically since we do not even understand it.
When some areas expereince warming, others are cooling. Here in NV just two years ago we had one of the coolest winters on record and had record snowfall in Las Vegas of all places.
The puny mind of man should not tinker with something as complex as mother nature. We are her to live our lives and utilize the resources God bestwoed on the Earth.
Driving an suv or using a 100 watt light bulb is not going to cause man to go extinct. Smart consumption of resources and a little common sense and the world will be around and suitable for human life for many many many many many centuries to come.
Posted on November 18, 2009 11:56 PM
Here's the Republican philosophy in a nutshell:
"We are her [sic] to live our lives and utilize the resources God bestwoed [sic] on the Earth."
In other words, God allows me to do whatever I want regardless of the consequences to anyone else. Dealing with Republicans is like dealing with little children who don't understand that there are consequences to their actions.
It's sad and pathetic that these simplistic, immature attitudes stand in the way of us moving forward. If Still-No-Credibility and his ilk had their way slavery would still be legal, women wouldn't have the right to vote and children would still be working in factories because God put these resources on earth for man to use.

Correct Stillow. To even think that man can alter the environment artificially is both arrogant and stupid.
Secondly, the poll results are not very difficult to figure out. The results are skewed because of the drop off of some reps indy voters to non-registered. If you did the poll in 2000 when the Dem party was a mess, you would probably see the reverse results.
Laslty, X, i didn't say the republicans weren't doing the same sort of fear mongering. You just threw out that the Reps were doing it invoking the notion that the Dems were not which was patently false.
Posted on November 19, 2009 10:01 AM
"To even think that man can alter the environment artificially is both arrogant and stupid."
Possibly the dumbest comments I've seen on this site. I only need to point to Hoover Dam, the Panama Canal or the neighborhood storm shelter as examples of how man as altered the environment to suit his needs. We have always adapted to the world around us and the "Gorons" are only saying that it's time to adapt once again.
Love to see the response this generates...
