10/2-4/09; 608 likely voters, 4% margin of error
(WJLA story, SurveyUSA release)
McDonnell 54%, Deeds 43% (chart)
Big mistake by Deeds releasing the McDonnell thesis so early in the game allowing voters to read it and see that it really wasn't the anti-female paper that Deeds was making it out to be.

That is right. Should have released it a week prior to election day so that the speculation would dominate. Very bad strategic move by Deeds.
GOP will run the table in this state, Gov, Lt. Gov and AG....not bad for a party that is supposed to be dead.

Deeds' stumble on the tax question is really killing him. We shall soon see how red most of Virginia is, or if NoVA has officially taken over.

I'm not sure NoVA has really strayed that far left. I've noted distinct disenchantment with many of the Bush decisions...particularly relating to international relations...but, most people I talk to are still center right and more importantly fiscally conservative. Given the current environment, this means independents abandon the left in droves and McDonnell skates to a relatively easy victory. Perhaps a snoozer...
