Just quick background, WCAX is CBS affiliate there. And this margin of error is pretty high; why didn't R2000 get 600 or 1000 LV Vermonters?

Interesting to see that the top two races are tossups and Dubie runs away with it otherwise. VT was supposed to be an easy Dem pickup; I guess not, though Dubie has the advantage of being the incumbent Lt. Gov with a popular liberal GOP governor in place right now.

VT has a state government? I thought it was all ski resorts and dairy farms with the occasional hippie commune.

Fun Fact: Montpelier is the nations smallest state capitol. (in terms of population, not brain power- that's a close second to Sacramento).

Dubie is a total jerk to say the least. It would be a disgrace to see another 8 years of Republicans in the state house. I think the Democrats need to spend more money for governor's races here. We need better candidates. Since howard dean we have had sucky candidates.

Markowitz is a great lady. I have met her a few times. It will be interesting to go to the state convention this May in Barre and see which canidate will be the best. Again this poll shows that people don't always vote on the issues, they vote on the candidate. Bernie sanders as rep and senator won by about 40 points, yet VT has elected GOP governors.

Dubie is not as easy going or likeable as the previous republican governor.

Dubie is more to the right of Scott Brown just to let you know. I don't think he'll win.

Unlike much of the country vt Democrats other than Sanders are favorable to sportsmen, and have limited gun laws. That is an advantage of not having a lot of violent crime is that there isn't the hysteria over tougher gun regulations.

But I thought you libs keep telling us that Scott Brown is a moderate. Of course, others state how he is a "teabagger". I guess it depends on the argument the lib is trying to make.

It all remains to be seen what kind of senator, Scott Brown ammounts to be.

Is VT still part of the union? I think we shoudl let them secede, they've been wanting to for a long time. Of course, they have been the source of much comical releif over the years giving us loonytoons such as Howard Dean and everyone's favorite self avowed socialist.

Yeah too bad Vermont is wonderful place to live too with a thriving economy. And last I checked Texas wanted to leave the union.

Well maybe TX and VT could make a new country called Vertexas....where tea part peeople live in peace and harmony with socialists. Dogs and cats will marry and bees leave my citrus trees alone.

Xenobion:

We could only hope such harmony could happen. My what polar times we live in.

Actually Stillow was right. There are people in VT who would like to secede. It is not just a right wing phenomenon, contrary to what you get from the corporate media, always pointing the finger at Todd Palin and Governor Perry. Historically, VT was independent for 8 years, and didn't join the union, and it was possible it wanted to join the Canadian union because of all the Loyalists to the British crown.

Vermont is not socialist in my opinion, as many of you may think. Sanders is a self proclaimed socialist, but VT has a lot of leaders who are more like what you find in rural parts of Canada. They like freedom, and privacy and not a lot of laws and ordinances, but are willing to pay a slightly higher tax rate to get more community services. VT has small class sizes, healthcare co-ops that cost a fraction of most health care plans, and gets money creatively through meticulous recycling laws.

If Palin or Huckabee did become president, I would want our state to seccede, and I think I wouldn't be the only one.

But Dubie, is an awful LT governor. We had Douglas who was probably more like Scott Brown or Olympia Snowe. Dubie's opposition to medical marjuana and gay marriage which got legalized will be tough for him. I think Obama needs to make a trip to VT to campaign for our Democratic nominee. He owes it to us. He hasn't been here other other than once. He needs to reward the hands that helped get him elected.
