I'd like to see these numbers across the country!
I am shocked. No, seriously.(/sarcasm)
Sarah Palin "I fired up an e-mail to McCain because Todd and I really want to campaign in Vermont"
At least she will tour some of the nicests (=liberal) places in the US!
May be her last chance to see them on the campaign dime before returning to Alaska for good.....
Smart state.
Can I get some syrup with this poll?
Can I get some syrup with this poll?

I wasnt always kathleen san juan. Long ago, even before computers I was kathleen springfield... Vermont. My dad was one of the rare Democrats in a state that was deep red Republican. It has turned deep blue Democratic in a generation.
The change has most emphatically NOT been due to a demographic change. Vermont is almost as white and rural as it was when it became our 14th state in 1777.
What has caused the huge political shift in such a short time? Once we find the reason, can we bottle it and sell it to Utah? South Dakota?
Nebraska?
In Springfield, the biggest event of the year has nothing to do with maple syrup. It is the Alumni Day Parade. Every class that graduates from the local high school enters a float in the parade. When I was a child, the theme was always something like Characters from Fairy Tales, they always threw candy from the floats, and the parade went on for miles.
The whole town celebrated graduating from high school. As an adult I learned that our Alumni Day Parade is not an annual event in every town in America. They began brainwashing us from a very early age, with Cinderella and lollipops, to get us to want to graduate from high school with all our friends from kindergarten.
I believe Vermont changed from voting for Republicans to voting for Democrats in one generation because of the value the people in that state place on education. The Democrats will have to deliver or the Vermonters will not support them a generation from now, either. Vermonters are high information voters. This election has divided between people who have access to information and people who do not. As more and more people in this country have access to information, we will be seeing more places like Springfield, and fewer like Wasilla.
What does your town celebrate?
I am sure Sarah Palin will drop in on Vermont this weekend when she is next door in NH. Why not? That seems to be the Republican strategy these days--campaign in the blue states.
