Is Rubio Italian or Cuban/American? The Hispanic population in south florida is so different than in the rest of the country. The anti-Castro attitudes have made the wealthier cuban Americans more conservative. The GOP is at least trying to make an effort to make their image more diverse. THey have women running in several senate seats which will reach out more to women voters. The GOP has been type cast as being a party where they have been electing mostly religious, white anglo saxon men who have come across more as Baptist preachers than as politicians. The GOP is trying to change the image by recruiting popular moderates in NY, and DE as well as relatively conservative women who can campaign like moderates in states like NH and COL. I am truly impressed with the progress they have made in just a year.
