It is sad that Sen Mccaskill is ranked the lowest but it is telling. It seems like people bite the hand that feeds. The leaders who try to create harmony and attack the special interests and aren't just pansies, but true progressives get screwed in some of these conservative states.

I'll never forget the town hall meeting where the photo of Rosa Parks, a civil rights hero was ripped up. The fact that so many people cheered at a anti-health care rally was reprehensible. Seeing a rational woman like Mccaskill having to treat these mobs like a bunch of 8th grade delinquents was really a sad moment in America. There is seriously a new racially charged right wing movement in this country and it is something my fellow progressives need to stand up to. For all you conservatives, I advise them to stand up against these people expressing racial hatred. It may work in the short term but will fail in the end.

Maybe people do not want to be fed, they want to be able to feed themselves...........not all of us out here are whiny little dependent liberals who can't survive without the allmighty hand of g'ment to provide.

Been lurking since election 2008. Agree with Stillow on this one. Also, I remember how patronizing Claire McCaskill was to people who didn't agree with her in the townhall meetings. Whining about irrelevant topics such as race to explain Missouri politicians' low approval ratings is just ridiculous.

It's easy to say that when you have a good job and things are generally going well for you.

It's my observation that Americans are extremely self-centered when it comes to government largesse. They like their congressman & blame all the others for spending too much. But they want good roads and funding for programs that benefit their area, by God.

They don't like other people getting handouts, but when they lose their job and health insurance, who is going to help them?
