See, I don't know about this. PPP has been consistent in North Carolina and that's their home state. They have Burr underwater favorables, but ahead of the Dems. I tend to think that's more the case than Ras with this 55/31 spread. That seems crazy, especially when Ras and PPP are pretty close with Obama and Perdue approval.

Agreed. I trust PPP with this state. They are constantly polling the state, nonstop.

PPP and ras are so far off from eachother in this state with their numbers, that its tough to think of any logical reason for it.

In any other year, I'd say Burr would be extremely vulnerable. While theres still a small chance that this seat could flip, the safer bet would be Burr by a comfortable 7-12% margin. It's certainly a race to keep an eye on and their primaries are right around the corner.

I thought that the top Dem decided to sit out this race, leaving the 2nd tier candidates to challenge Burr.

Well Scott Brown was a 2nd tier candidate and he won. I actually thought that Mitt Romney was going to run against the Democrat.

Looking back, I have to say I am still recovering from that campaign and having to promote a lackluster candidate like Coakley.

It still will take me time to warm up to Scott Brown, not so much because he is a Republican, but because he got Ted Kennedy's senate seat. Had he been elected somewhere like NJ or Washington state, It wouldn't have been as upsetting.

I know I will spend lots of time volunteering a few towns over in Mass to make sure the best Democrat can beat Brown and get a 6 year term. I would wish him well nevertheless, and I think he is an okay guy. He would make a hell of a lot better Governor than Romney did.
