I feel really bad for Harry Reid. For some reason though, after being in Nevada he doesn't seem to fit in to the culture. The other Nevada politicians seem slick and not all that honest. They seem to be good spinmasters. Reid would have probably fit in better to a state like Oregon, Iowa or Wisconsin where honesty and populism are valued more than money, power and good looks. He has sort of reminded me a bit of Harkin who would rather state the truth even though it isn't always what people want to hear, than try to bullshit their way to victory every election.

I am sure that people are very money motivated around Vegas and Reno making it good for a certain type of fiscal conservative.

I still believe that Democrats have not organized well in Nevada, since there are a lot of young people in that state, yet I have a feeling that isn't the age group that is a strong voting bloc. Obama sailed to Victory in Nevada.

States like Iowa and Florida have a higher percentage of seniors making it more understandable why Democrats are not doing well.

Field Marshal:

Reid epitomizes the corruption and dirty politics that characterizes both political parties. I do not feel sorry for him at all. He reaped millions in unethical land deals around Las Vegas.

It will be a joyous day when they throw his racist behind out of the chamber for good!

If you look for it, you can find dirt on any politician. Field Marshall's critique of Reid may indeed be correct on the land deals, and a lot of decisions politicians make come back to haunt them. Of course Mass. is a state I used to live in and knew a lot of inside information about Mitt Romney. When he agreed to sign the mandatory health insurance Bill, I had a feeling he did it for political reasons, but looks like such a birdbrain to have changed his mind.

It sounds like a shady land deal however may be unethical, but between Governor Gibbons, bringing his mistress with him to the airport, and John Ensign's shady dealings with C Street and a married woman, Reid still seems to have better ethics. Reid is clearly a victim of misinformation, and the GOP has a fascination with starting early to campaign against the Majority leader like they did with Dashle. Democrats on the other hand, simply target the Republican incumbents who are the least popular and pick the states in which they have the strongest challengers.

Give me a break farleft. Reid is as corrupt as they come. he has no ethics. The guy is hated in this state. ensign had very solid numbers until he got busted having an affir. Based on ideas and actual job performance Ensign kills Reid, Ensign just caught clintonitis and couldn't keep it in his pants.

Reid is the victim of no mis information, he is the victim of his own stupidity and orruption....just like his son rory who is an idiot too. Harry will be unemployed come this fall and everyone knows it.

Reid's done. In a normal universe, getting walloped double-digits and below 40 percent would have the national party looking for someplace else. But the Dems would plow several wasted millions here even though there are far far closer races, one of them is in neighboring California.

Eh the pragmatist in me says its Nevada's loss. Every Committee Chair and head of whatever gets a kickback to their constituents. Reid was the golden goose for Nevada and whether you liked him or not Nevada's not gonna get a golden goose for a long time. Its gonna fall off the map like when Tom Daschle got voted out in South Dakota.

Interesting string folks...Far left, you really need to do some research on Nevada politics before you weigh in, as the state is not nearly what the CSI image would have you believe. Nevada politicians, at least old schoolers who were raised there (as I was), are first and foremost independent. In fact, the worst thing the Republicans nationally can do for their cause is to tell Nevada independents and Dems that Reid is done...Nevadans don't care much for outsiders. The Las Vegas metro area has an enormous senior population, as the Western foothills are built around the Del Webb-conceived Sun City community. The climate has drawn seniors there as it has in Florida and Arizona. The state generally and Las Vegas in particular are not gambling economies as much as they are government economies. The largest Air Force base in the world is quartered in the Las Vegas Valley. These last two points should point to why Republicans have a strong presence. The other is the state's long fight on land use issues...we Nevadans were waving "don't tread on me" flags long before Dick Armey organized the tea party astroturfers. It is that issue, within the lens of nuclear energy, that might rear up in the fall. In the 70's Nevada had "The Bible and The Cannon"...two powerful senators who gave the state a voice. When Cannon was defeated (by an underwear salesman and Reagan's coattails), Nevada lost her voice, and the Screw Nevada Bill designated Yucca Mountain as the Nuke Dump site. Reid has successfully led the delaying action since. It will be a good game to watch for us political junkies.

If Nevada is that far right why would have Obama won by 15 points? They love Democrats when we have a crisis, but as soon as the voters realize that problems Obama inherited just don't disappear overnight, they become impatient and just return to the same failed right wing ideas that failed before, and will fail again if more Republicans are re-elected. Unfortunately too many progressives are analytical and detail oriented, and most people are not.
