POLL: CNN Homosexuality

Additional results from the recent CNN/ORC national survey of 1,029 adults (conducted 6/22 through 6/24) finds:

  • Among about 515 adults, 36% of Americans think "someone who is a homosexual can change their sexual orientation if they choose to do so;" 56% think they can not.

  • 39% think homosexuality "is something a person is born with;" 42% think it is "due to factors such as upbringing and environment."

Till Eulenspiegel:

It's really interesting that the insane, bigoted views always wind up around 35%: Islamophobia (various polls), those who think homosexuality should be illegal (Gallup May 10-13, 2007), etc.

I believe it offers some insight into why Bush's approval was at about the same level for so long, and perhaps gives credence to the claim that the current decline is mostly because of immigration.
