So how is a poll which is already a month old when they release it supposed to be informative?

Has there been any polling by congressional districts in Maine? The reason that this matters is that if you win one of the two congressional districts in Maine, you get one electoral vote, even if you lose the other district and the state as a whole.

This would only be of practical significance if Obama's margin in Maine went down to, say, five percentage points.

RCP has Maine Obama +11. 538 has Maine Obama +12.1 Pollster.com has Maine Obama +15.5. This poll although on the high side certainly consistent with the trend. Since 1992, Maine has voted 7.75% more for the Democratic candidate than the national number. The polls and this trend bode well for Obama.

As to Collins, every poll since March has had Collins leading. 538 has this race likely GOP.
