I love how they asked the question about the g'ment plan competing with private insurance....when that is not possible. The g'ment plan will put private insurers out of business as the employers will dump that cost onto the g'ment..................

Well you see my overall point, which you're not likely to understand because...well...because you're a Republican and understanding an issue isn't something you folks do well, is that saying a Government option will put Private insurers out of business is pure nonsense.

If private insurance is so much better than a public option, then there's no problem because as you Republicans say, private industry will succeed.

That's all there is to it. So I'm not sure what you're afraid of.

I can't beleive I actually have to explain this to you....but then again, I know you libs have a hard time understanding anything the g'ment doesn't explain for you.

A public plan would not be motivated by profit. Medicare, medical, etc, etc all operate at a loss. If those were private companies they would be out of business. But when the g'ment can't compete its ok, because they have the power to make up the gap by raising taxes. So when there's a public option, all companies who pay for employee coverage which currently provides most of the coverage out there would see that as a cost they can cut and thus stop offering health beneifts forcing employees onto the public system. The public system would in turn go bankrupt faster and thus forcing g'ment to rasie taxes on everyone to try and make up the gap....but as with all entitlements, g'ment won't be able to raise taxes high enough to pay for it...so it will simply add to the debt each year. Companies will stop paying for benefits because it would make no sense to offer it if they can pass that cost onto the g'ment. This will force private insurers out of business, which will lead to massive layoffs in that indsutry. Especially small business who employs most people, they already struggle with expenses and income, there woul be a horse race to pass coverage off to the g'ment. It would create a huge g'ment burocracy and as we see with every othe rg'ment burocracy the cost of maintaining it is usually 5x what they predict. In addition liberals in g'ment thrive on controlling your life, so the overhead in managing your health would be enormous...as the g'ment would dictate which dr. you see, when and what tyep of treament you can receive.
You could actually give the uninsurced vouchers to buy their own plans from private carriers and it would cost a fraction of what the g'ment want sto spend now.
You libs have such a hard time thinking for yourselves....it doesn't matter what the g'ment tells you, you just jump in line and beleive what they say. You put all your faith into a system which has proven time and time again it is capable of actually running very little effectively. There was a time in this country when liberals questioned the g'ment, wanted verification, validation and justification for g'ment getting involved....now all you want is g'ment to run every aspect of your life....what happened to you guys?

Today Max Baucus said that a tax on health care benefits is likely in order to pay for the govt health plan. So if I keep my employer provided insurance my taxes go up. Of course that assumes my employer does not choose to just pocket the half mil a month he spends on health care and let the govt provide it at no cost to him.

Sounds like they want to force EVERYONE into the public plan. If your employer chooses to still offer it, you have to pay the govt.

You libs have argued for months, or even years, that health care is a "right." And now you want to tax it. Why not bring back the poll tax too while you are at it. It would make as much sense. If "rights" are fair game for taxes, lets tax abortions too.

But I thought 95% of us were getting our taxes cut? Was BO being honest when he said that?
