Wow. This poll is surprising considering the so called objective, or even liberal pollsters have Obama in the tank. It is better than I thought considering there were more Republicans polled on this than the other polls.

This is the one that speaks the most truth to me. "If John McCain had become president, do you think he would be doing a better job, a worse job, or about the same kind of job as President Obama?"

I wouldn't call these good numbers. The rest are decent though.

Interesting. Another live interviewer poll that shows much better numbers than an automated poll. If you look at practically any poll on Pollster, you will find a significant difference between the 2 polling methods (just filter the Obama approval/disapproval graph, its a huge shift!)

Can we conjecture that ppl are afraid to voice their true opinion when live-called? Obviously just finding a difference doesn't automatically mean auto-polling is better. But auto-polling was more accurate than live in NJ & VA last Nov. If it is again, expect a nail-biter in MA in 5 days, not a roughly 8-10 pt win predicted by the live polling.

63% better or the same when asked about "your family". Considering we have 10% unemployment, I would stick with my original descriptor.

I would be one of the 50% who believe Obama is falling below expectations. Our expectations were too high.

Many white people say they approve of Obama because they think the pollster is going to think they're racist if they don't. White people know that many non-racist things are spun into being racist these days. Automatic polls are much better because white people don't feel pressured.

@ Jack

You are racist.

Everybody tries to throw around the racist accusation these days, and none of them seem to know what racism is. In my opinion, the only racist criticism of Obama has been from certain reactions to the Gates affair and the birther conspiracists.

This poll doesn't break down by race, so it's impossible to know what white approval in this poll is. In other polls, it's around 39%, which is 4 points lower than he got in the election.

Another auto poll (Suffolk) shows Brown beating Coakley 50-46. If Brown wins, it will be hard to give much credence to live interview polls in the current electoral environment.
