Interesting internals on the way people see the economy. In the end, in terms of 2010 and 2012 these are the only numbers that matter. Trending in the right direction, month on month. Jobs report today wasn't good and media suggests Repubs are having an easier time spinning the news there way. Maybe so but at least in this poll the public would rather Obama than Congressional Repubs handle the economy by a 54-35 margin.

The most recent iteration of on this I can find is from NBC/WSJ:
Inherited by Obama 72
Obama responsible 14
And the deficit?
Bush administration 46
The Democrats in Congress 21
The Republicans in Congress 7
Obama administration 6
The Bush well isn't quite dry just yet. The president has time on his side and seemingly the American people are behind him but he will have to point to some kind of progress in less than eighteen months else there will be big trouble for Democrats.
@conspiracy
Your right, he does have time. When Reagan inherited the economy i nthe dumper they didn't balme him at first, but if I recall his polls slowly went down unti lthe turn around in 1983...Bush didn't really get blamed in 2001 when he inherited the recession from clinton...so obama does have a little time here...and can still milk blaming Bush for a while...but the logner this goes his #'s will come down. I guess it depends on when this thing eventually turns around and how strong the recovery is.

Agreed. I could even see a scenario where Dems get a bit of a thumping (not as bad as 1994)next year only for the economy to recover before 2012 and thus an easy re-election for Obama. Obviously there are other scenarios. Time will tell.
That's the first national poll in a while showing obama above 50 with indy's...that is good for him, he won't be going anywhere if he keeps that # above 50.
