Well nothing particularly surprising here. Obviously the Democrats have no chance in this state. Of course they never really did from the start. And yes the -30 approval for Obama is about right on the money. The only state where it's probably worse is Oklahoma.

I am a liberal living in Utah. The beauty is unparalleled. The liquor laws are unbearable. I will miss it when I move.

Don't know why this was bumped but i read yesterday that in the 70's, Utah was a swing state. Interesting.

Also, Texas was a strong democratic state up until just 30 years ago.

Where in the world did you read that? Utah went for FDR all 4 times and was fairly close but went for Truman in 1948. It went democratic in 1964 but has gone republican by 20-30 points in every election since.

Perot did do quite well in 1992, however. He got more votes than Clinton.
